Free Plant Identifier is a free plant identifier online. You upload a picture; vision models compare leaf shape, petal structure, bark texture, and color against a large set of species, then return a common name, scientific name, and confidence score — usually in seconds, with no signup.

What the model looks at
Identification is visual, not a DNA test. The system scores how closely your image matches known species. High-quality photos often land in the 85–95% confidence range; blur, mixed plants, or unusual hybrids score lower. Treat the top match as a strong lead — confirm before foraging or medical use.
- Leaves: outline, margin, veins, and how they attach to the stem
- Flowers: petal count, color, and the bloom center
- Trees: bark, overall form, cones, or fruit when leaves are missing
Photo tips that improve matches
Use daylight
Natural light keeps leaf color and vein detail accurate. Avoid heavy filters and extreme HDR.
One subject per photo
Fill the frame with a single leaf, flower, bark panel, or fruit. Crowded backgrounds confuse matches.
Add a second angle
If the first result looks uncertain, upload a closer shot or a different plant part.

Privacy and what you get
